the majority of this piece was written (as well as lyrics penned and vocals tracked) in a single marathon session on october 27th, 2015. i touched on the piece occasionally every year or two before adding a few more layers in late 2020, taking a few days to mix it in march of 2021, and finally massaging that mix once more and mastering it in april of 2023.

for whatever reason, it is a strange piece of sudden anxiety and upfrontness that has stuck with me for many years, and i am relieved to let this proof of concept out of my mind for a while.

perhaps one day i will re-record a less rough version informed by this demo from the ground up.

several earlier iterations of this piece may yet be floating around the interwebs and, for the sake of funsies, i have intentions to neither sniff them out nor take them down in the wake of this somewhat more organized upload.
